Love Hate (2009) is a short film starring Ben Whishaw and Hayley Atwell and written and directed by Blake Ritson and Dylan Ritson with music composed by Tom Haines and Christopher Branch.
It follows the story of a charity worker called Tom (Whishaw) who meets Hate (Atwell) and shows Tom that underneath his kind spirit there might be another side to Tom’s personality. Very good comedy/drama with a touch of the supernatural possibly about it and really well acted.

Female Style
Brie Larson
Winner of Best Actress on the night for her role in Room Brie Larson looked amazing in this golden, sequinned gown with beautifully matched long, flowing earrings.
Viola Davis
I loved Viola’s Davis’ red gown on the night. I love the sparkles at the top and the fabric is wonderfully luxurious.
Alicia Vikander
Nominated for Best Actress on the night for her role in The Danish Girl, Alicia Vikander looked stunning in this understated, beautiful gown.
Lupita Nyong’o
I have always loved Lupita Nyong’o’s style and her outfit on the night was yet another fashion success. There is a wonderful hippie quality to the dress which is always brilliant and her bag matches beautifully with her dress. One of my three favourite outfits on the night.
Saoirse Ronan
Our very own Saoirse Ronan was nominated on the night for Best Actress for her role in Brooklyn and like Alicia Vikander chose a beautiful understated white gown with a stunning trail.
Emma Stone
My other favourite look on the night came from Emma Stone who did the androgyny look wonderfully and had a uniqueness with her trail.
Male Style
Eddie Redmayne
Nominated for Best Actor on the night for his role in The Danish Girl, Eddie Redmayne looked amazing in his very classic suit. The velvet look of the jacket is stunning.
Matt Bomer
Winner of Best Supporting Actor in a series, mini-series or TV movie for his role in The Normal Heart, Matt Bomer looked amazing in his very classic blue suit and matched his dickey bow brilliantly to his shoes which made me smile because the shoes reminded me of the type of shoes my dad loved and of course my dad was a very stylish man so clearly Matt Bomer is too.
Alan Cumming
Nominated for Supporting Actor in a TV series, movie or mini-series for his role in The Good Wife, Alan Cumming looked amazing in his pink suit and hip-hop style Christian Louboutin “Mika on Stage” high-top sneakers.
Wiz Khalifa
Wiz Khalifa’s look on the night was brilliant. The sunglasses, the white tie with the white shirt and the loafers with no socks make this look very unique and cool.
Jamie Dornan
Looking very classic on the night was our very own Jamie Dornan who also wore shoes that looked like shoes my dad liked to wear so again another very stylish man.
Jared Leto
My other favourite outfit on the night was by Jared Leto whose style I love. Donning a white suit and looking every inch the rock star he is, Jared looked amazing on the night.
Just when I was putting up about my story appearing in Woman’s Way I remembered I never put up the link to the Brilliant Flash Fiction’s results of their writing contest on the theme of equality judged by writer Liz Nugent. Some great stories to read there and my own story entitled Waking up to a Marriage Proposal is listed on the long list which was amazing and I loved writing it and loved my two main characters Lee and Stefan.

My short story entitled New Love At 62 appears in this week’s Woman’s Way Magazine. It was fun to write and I loved writing my two main characters Mary and George. Seen it when I was on my break from college today down in the supervalu and purchased it when I was out with my sis tonight and it looks fab. Thanks again to everyone at Woman’s Way.

Fashion photographer Damon Baker hails from a small town in Worcestershire in England and like many people from small towns the 25-year-old photographer is making a big mark in his chosen creative field of fashion photography. He has already photographed Jared Leto, Shannon Leto, James Franco, Courtney Love, Michelle Williams, Ellie Goulding, Mark Ronson, Jonathan Groff, Mr Hudson, Candice Huffine, Jourdan Dunn, Cara Delevingne, George Shelley, Agyness Deyn, Jessie J, David Gandy, Paris Hilton and Fearne Cotton amongst many more and has three very regular muses that he photographs Andreja Pejic, Rita Ora and Taylor Swift.
The three things that hit you instantly about Baker’s photography or at least hit me instantly are the naturalness he seems to bring out of his subjects, the retro feel and the sense that there is a narrative to the photographs. It’s all very well taking pictures that look visually brilliant which Baker does but if there’s no sense of story that drags you into the photograph well there’s not much point, is there? And Baker in his work certainly doesn’t overlook this aspect. Possibly it’s the writer in me that loves a sense of narrative in everything.

Royal Blood by Royal Blood (2014) was the rock duo’s debut studio album and was produced by the band with Tom Dalgety. The album, which won the Brit Award for MasterCard British Album of the Year and the NME Award for Best Album, is a thundering rock album of pure quality and proves that quality is more vital than quantity when it comes to great work with the echo of vibrating sound coming from bassist and lead vocalist Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher. A stunning and enjoyable listen.
Let’s take a look at each track individually:
Out Of The Black
The opening number is a throbbing and thunderous track which is exhilarating and instrumentally limitless. The edge and attitude in Kerr’s vocal delivery is perfection. A wonderfully constructed opener which sets the tone for the rest of the album.
Come On Over
An edgy, subtler track compared to some of the other tracks on the album but still brimming with hard-hitting rock and varied instrumentals which flow into each other with ease.
Figure It Out
Kerr’s vocal is very narrative-like on this track. The instrumentals flow gloriously into each other with perfect ease and it is a dynamic and cohesive number.
You Can Be So Cruel
Catchy and wonderfully pieced together. Still hard-hitting but one of the more subtler tracks on the album compared to others and brilliant.
Blood Hands
One of my favourite tracks on the album I think this track has a very classic rock feel which I love. It is timeless and Kerr’s vocal is perfect: narrative-like and full of edge and attitude. The instrumentals go perfectly with the vocals and it is just a job well done all round. Love it.
Little Monster
Again Kerr’s vocal is very narrative-like on this track which is always a great quality in any vocalist. The instrumentals are beautifully varied and sound striking and textured.
Loose Change
Another of my favourite tracks on the album, Loose Change has sprawling expanding instrumentals complimenting that storytelling quality in Kerr’s vocal. Layered, rhythmic and relentlessly brilliant.
Careless
The instrumentals are brilliantly crafted and are arranged beautifully around Kerr’s vocal. Great job.
Ten Tonne Skeleton
Another favourite of mine from the album, this is headbanging perfection in all it’s glory. I love the edge in Kerr’s vocal and it is a stunningly crafted song also in terms of instrumentals with soaring, fresh and piercing instrumentals rounding off a song filled with lyrics of attitude and defiance and a great hook that is guaranteed to swim around in your brain long after you have heard the track.
Better Strangers
A fantastic closer, Better Strangers is quite subtle compared to some other tracks on the album but is still hard-hitting and has a catchy chorus. Clever and effortless.

Hi everyone!
So we’ve all just arrived in a new year and in my case the need for a new bottle of hair dye shows that I am indeed approaching another year older. We are all making those resolutions that most of us probably will abandon by the end of January or earlier. My two this year are to be more myself because by nature I’m very introverted so maybe attempt to be more open and less guarded like in my writing but apply it to my everyday life. I’m sure every introvert knows that the idea of that alone frightens me enormously. The other is to start my own little business. It’s just a simple idea of framing my poetry and trying to get it sold in some of the shops that sell gifts and the like. Probably won’t work out but is worth a go.
Rejection is after all only one person’s opinion be in life or in work and we need not be scared of it. It is after all only one moment in time and once we get through that awkward moment we are on safe ground. So we shouldn’t allow that fear to stop us trying and progressing.
On a more lighter note, Happy New Year to all my readers and to all your loved ones. Let’s make 2016 a year full of fun, a year full of memories to take into 2017. I for one intend to. And in terms of the blog I hope to write interesting content which I hope you will all like. Thanks so far for all your support with the blog. It means a lot. 🙂
