Next up from Mind Body Soul here is affirmations for the LGBTQIA+ community. As a proud member of the community, I find this video wonderful and thank you to all at Mind Body Soul for thinking of us. Much appreciated. It was done for Pride Month but this is perfect for all year around. Very relaxing, reassuring and helpful. Amazing job.

Dancing

From the Cairde YouTube channel here is some Irish dancing did on the west coast here in Ireland. Really, really well put together and just excellent dancing.

Animals/Films

Finally for now, here is an OwlKitty parody of Love Actually. This makes me laugh so much. It’s hilarious and it’s very well put together.

Poem: Let Me Be Brave

Photo by Michael Dziedzic on Unsplash

Let me not lose myself

nor the lessons I have learned

but please let me also be brave,

let me not change

but let me change

and let me be brave,

let me not lose all I have fought for

and all I have fought to make right

and let me be brave,

I have all the time in the world

yet the minute draws near,

universe let me be brave,

braver than I have ever been.

Social Issues

First up we have episode 49 in Crash Course’s Black American History series with Clint Smith. In this episode Clint speaks about Hurricane Katrina and how it affected many black communities in New Orleans and how race and class played a huge role in the response to Hurricane Katrina. Clint also talks about his and his family’s own personal experience of Hurricane Katrina. He also speaks about climate change. As always a very interesting and informative episode in which Clint looked at many different things and how they can combine together and create terrible consequences.

Next up we have episode 50 in Crash Course’s Black American History series with Clint Smith. In this episode Clint speaks about Barack Obama and how he rose up to be America’s first black President. He speaks about Barack’s life and career, about the racism he and his family faced during his campaign to be President and during his Presidency. Clint also speaks about Henry Louis Gates Jr and how he was arrested when entering his own home and was mistaken for a thief due to racial profiling by the Cambridge police. Great episode packed with a lot of information.

Thirdly we have episode 51 in Crash Course’s Black American History series with Clint Smith. In this episode Clint speaks about Black Lives Matter founded by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Ayo Tometi and the Movement For Black Lives. He speaks about the murders of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Eric Garner and George Floyd and the violence and racism inflicted on black people by the police. Clint speaks about systematic racism and Black Lives Matter protests. Another very informative episode. This is the final episode in this incredible series.

Cooking

Next up we have a recipe from Lainey from Simply Bakings. In this recipe Lainey demonstrates how to make Keto Peanut Butter Cookies using only four ingredients. Very interesting and accessible to learn how to make these cookies from scratch.

Poem: Breathe In

Photo by dominik hofbauer on Unsplash

I breathe in the beauty,

the positive,

I breathe in my gentleness,

in my fire,

I breathe in all that I am

and all this stunning self-love,

take time to heal,

be strong,

be ready,

I breathe in this amazing trans man that I am

and say go,

breathe out and say

you have been hurt but

life is good

and it is getting better and

now is your time Mitch darling,

now is your time to not wait to be you any longer.
