Poem: Normal

Photo by Max van den Oetelaar on Unsplash

Normal …

it is normal to feel overwhelmed,

to feel scared,

to feel unsure of the next move,

it is normal to feel these things,

there is no weakness in being human,

there is no need to be a robot,

you are strong and don’t you forget it.

Normal …

it is normal to endure,

to fight through,

life is not always a picnic,

hug the uncertainty,

hug the fear,

show it love

and see it respond.

Normal …

you are normal.

Poem: Difficult Path

Photo by Justin Luebke on Unsplash

Why is the difficult path

the one which will bring the most happiness?

Why is the easy path

the one which will bring the most unhappiness?

Why does the difficult path seem so unsafe

and the easy path so safe?

Is this what they mean by anything worth having

is worth fighting for?

I have been up and down like a skipping kangaroo

but now for better or for worse I choose the difficult path.

5 Videos To Watch This Week On YouTube!

Hi everyone! 🙂

Here is my latest five video suggestions and it is my second Eurovision-themed 5 videos post. So without further ado, here is five more of my favourites from this year’s contest. 🙂

Music/TV

First up we have the music video for Brunette’s Future Lover. I think it is both understated and dramatic and that contrast works really well. The lyrics I find relatable and it is a very storytelling vocal from Brunette which I really like. The music video is wonderful, very stylishly shot. Brunette will be representing Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest this year and the video is from the contest’s YouTube channel.

Next up we have the National Final performance of Power by Diljá. Diljá is representing Iceland in this year’s contest and this video is also from the contest’s YouTube channel. I think the message is amazing and Diljá’s vocal is so strong. I really enjoyed the performance. I thought she really got across the message of the song during her performance for Söngvakeppnin 2023.

Next up we have the music video for Unicorn by Noa Kirel who will be representing Israel at this year’s contest. I think the music video is very well put together. Lots of great dancing, very creative and a lot of fun. The message is very empowering and I also think that came across in the music video. The video is once again from the contest’s YouTube channel.

Fourth is the music video for Echo by Iru. Iru will be representing Georgia at the contest with this song and once again the video is from the contest’s YouTube channel. I think the song has a gorgeous flow to it, it’s very catchy. The music video is so creative and stylishly shot.

Finally for today here is the UK’s entry for the contest Mae Muller with the music video for her song I Wrote A Song. The song is very catchy. I think the music video is creative and the dancing is really good. The video is also from the contest’s channel.

Poem: The Beautiful People

Photo by Clarissa Watson on Unsplash

Freedom,

I long for it

and when I am among it,

in the virtual and non-virtual world

it feels like Christmas,

like the lights are sparkling

and the present to the world is love

and goes far beyond acceptance

to something more real,

I feel a safety

and a clarity,

I feel a happiness,

a calmness

but alas I return to the other side

and the magic is gone

and the fear returns.

Thankfully I can return to the safety and the beauty,

find new joyful wonders,

the wonders of the true beautiful people.

5 Videos To Watch This Week On YouTube!

Hi everybody! 🙂

Here are my latest five video suggestions. This is my second Eurovision-themed 5 Videos post.

Music/TV

First up we have ADGY’S performance of Too Good For Your Love from The Late Late Show YouTube channel. The performance is from the Irish National selection for Eurovision this year. A great performance and a catchy tune.

Next up we have Leila Jane’s performance of Wild from the Irish National final for Eurovision. Again the video is from The Late Late Show YouTube channel. I love the message of the song and it was very well performed.

Next we have Public Image Limited’s performance of Hawaii from the Irish National final for Eurovision. Like the previous two videos this performance is from The Late Late Show YouTube channel. Lead singer John Lydon wrote the song about a holiday he went on with his wife Nora Forster to Hawaii before she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. A really beautiful, emotive and heartfelt performance and song. A gorgeous tribute to Nora. Sadly since the National final Nora passed away. My condolences go out to John and all of Nora’s loved ones at this very sad time. R.I.P Nora.

Next up we have Luke Black’s performance of Samo Mi Se Spava from the Serbian National final Pesma za Evroviziju. The video is from the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel. This track is one of my favourites from this year’s Eurovision contest. The message is really great and I just love the instrumentals. Luke is such a great performer and he and the dancers really help bring the performance to life. Really creative and storytelling. Visually the whole performance is just superb.

Finally for today we have the music video for Teya & Salena’s Who The Hell Is Edgar? Teya & Salena are representing Austria with the song and the video is from the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel. Another one of my favourites from this year’s contest, the song is really great, fun and catchy and has a great message. The music video is so much fun and very well put together. There is so much storyline packed into the music video. It is like a mini movie. Very cool.

Poem: Joy

Beautiful sunlight

glowing through the sky

and in through my window,

morning awakening,

communicating good morning

and have a good day,

lifting away the heaviness of clouds,

birds freely flying

communicating that freedom is key

and do your own thing boo,

the way the sun makes the leaves sparkle,

all green and vibrant,

I am in awe,

I am in love,

in love with freedom,

with life,

with the beauty of joy,

pure and stunning joy.

Music/TV

From The Late Late Show’s YouTube channel, firstly here is our entry this year We Are One by Wild Youth. This performance is from the National final. It is a very catchy tune and it was performed very well. Best of luck to Wild Youth in the Eurovision! 🙂

Next up we have the second place from our National contest. Also from The Late Late Show YouTube channel here is Connolly with Midnight Summer Night. A really beautiful song and very well performed.

Next up we have the third place in our National contest. Here is Down In The Rain by K Muni & ND. This song was mine and my family’s favourite in the National final. It is super catchy and amazing and it was an incredible performance.

Next up is Heart Of Steel by TVORCHI. TVORCHI are representing Ukraine in this year’s Eurovision with this song and it is definitely one of my favourites of the entries. I think it has an amazing message and is just a really amazing, quality song. Vocalist Jimoh Augustus Kehinde’s vocal just is breathtaking and both he and producer Andrii Hutsuliak have done a fantastic job here. The music accompanying Jimoh Augustus Kehinde’s vocal works really, really well. The lyrics are just stunning and very heartfelt. A wonderful performance from the National final VIDBIR in Ukraine. The video is from the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel.

Finally for now, we have Finland’s entry for the Eurovision this year. Here is Cha Cha Cha by Käärijä from the Finnish National final Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu. The song is another one of my favourites from this year’s contest and it is so much fun and the lyrics are really stunning and heartfelt. The performance is just epic, very unique which is fantastic. Really, really creative. Käärijä and the dancers did a fantastic job. The video is also from the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel

Poem: Repression, Suppression

Photo by Kristina V on Unsplash

Repression,

suppression,

ironic those two ugly things rhyme,

the worry to let yourself loose,

to stop worrying about what your neighbour thinks,

what your friend thinks,

what your mother thinks,

to let those two things go

and whoever else wants to go with them

and put yourself across,

that is the fire within

that wishes to burn

and which you put out

for the convenience of others

whoever they may be,

for the fear of how you look

and it’s all shit,

let your strength fly,

the things you fear just go,

no thinking,

go,

no repression,

no suppression,

just living.
