X Factor Third Live Show!

It was week 3 of the live shows this week and the theme was movie night. So how did each act do?!

Rough Copy

This week Rough Copy sang Brian Adams’ Everything I Do I Do It For You. Brilliant as always.

Sam Callahan

This week Sam sang U2’s All I Want Is You. He sung and performed it very well.

Hannah Barrett

This week Hannah sang Adele’s Skyfall. It was amazing. Such a hard song too.

Nicholas MacDonald

Nicholas sang Sarah McLachlan’s Angel this week. It’s one of my favourite songs and he sung it really well. Completely effortless.

Abi Alton

Another song which is one of my favourite songs Moon River from the film Breakfast at Tiffanys. Love the movie. Love Truman Capote. She sang it really well.

Miss Dynamix

Miss Dynamix sang Gabrielle’s Dreams this week. I didn’t think it was great.

Sam Bailey

This week Sam sang Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On. One word: Outstanding! I loved the choregraphy too.

Kingsland Road

They sang Rob Orbison’s Pretty woman from the movie of the same name. I loved Jay’s top. I love houndstooth. Got a pair of houndstooth trousers recently. (I’m sure no one cares but yeah!) I liked Josh’s bit and Connor’s bit but I didn’t love the rest of the performance if I’m honest though I did love the choregraphy. I love Jersey Boys!

Luke Friend

Luke sang Seal’s Kissed By A Rose this week. I said in the shop earlier because the song came on that one of them would sing it. I was so happy Luke did because he did his own unique and wonderful take on it. Best performance of the night.

Tamera Foster

Tamera sang Beyonce’s Listen tonight. She sang it really well. It’s a very hard song too.

Next we had the flash vote! The act who finished last tonight was Miss Dynamix.

The contestants also got to go to the premiere of Thor 2 where they got to see the beautiful Mcfly and the equally beautiful Chris Hemsworth.

The Wanted and Lady Gaga sang in the results show. Huge fan of both so really enjoyed both their performances. Nathan’s solos were beautiful. Also great song. Such a great songwriter. He wrote Union J’s new song too. They were on Xtra Factor singing it. Jaymi and Josh were also on the panel on Xtra Factor too this week.

This week there was a shock when Hannah Barrett fell into the bottom two. Gary chose to save Miss Dynamix while Nicole, Sharon and Louis chose to save Hannah after the sing-off where Hannah sang Emile Sande’s Read All About It and Miss Dynamix sang Swedish House Mafia’s Don’t You Worry Child.

Hard luck to Miss Dynamix but best of luck to Sese with the baby and to the three of them as a group.

Bring on disco week!

15 Halloween Films To Enjoy!

Let’s be honest we all love a good scare, don’t we?! It’s the reason horror films do so well at the box office after all! And with Halloween looming it is the perfect excuse to kick back and watch a good scary film. But with so much out there where does one begin? I have decided to compile fifteen gems for you all to check out. Happy viewing!

Hocus Pocus   Perfect for all the family! I remember I used to watch this movie over and over when I was younger. It’s just so well-written and it stars the fabulous Bette Middler as the head witch.

Halloween   Halloween is an absolute classic horror film starring a young Jaime Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. The villain is Michael Myers who has killed his sister and been put in the hospital at Smith’s Grove. Now he has escaped and is out to kill again!

Halloween 2   I had two reasons for watching this film: I loved the first and I fancy Josh Hartnett! Hartnett plays the returning Lee’s son in the second film where Lee’s character is now gone older. And Mike Myers is back again!

The Raven   John Cusack is a fantastic actor and is actually one of my mum’s favourite actors. The story goes that someone is influenced by Edgar Allen Poe’s works to kill and Poe and a detective join forces to catch the villain and put a stop to the murders.

Retreat   Retreat is more a thriller than a horror but it is still rather scary! It stars Naomi Harris and Cillian Murphy as married couple who take in Bell’s character who is ill with his face covered in blood. I won’t tell you the story but the twist is surprising.

30 Days of Night   Did I mention I fancied Josh Hartnett?! Well in this film he stars as. The story goes that a town is attacked by a group of vampires out for blood.

The Shining   Starring Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance. The Shining is a horror classic and many peoples’ favourite movie for Halloween. Here’s Jonny!

The Exorist   This is another classic horror film which many people consider their favourite for Halloween. In the film there is a very scary child whose face would scare you alone!

The Omen   The Omen is all about Damien and all the sixes! There has been many great versions of this story but the original from 1976 has to be the best starring the outstanding Gregory Peck.

Omen 2   Back with Damien again! The story goes that Damian finally finds out about his destiny.

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer   I absolutely love Ben Whishaw! In this film he played the role of Jean-Baptise Grenouille in his breakthrough role. The story goes that he is a perfumier who kills women for their scent.

The Woman in Black   Starring Daniel Radcliffe the film goes that kids are dying in a seaside town and Radcliffe’s character is investigating it.

The Canterville Ghost   Based on the Oscar Wilde story, The Canterville Ghost stars John Gielgud. This film had another great re-make starring Patrick Stewart and is to be remade again in 2014. Proves just how timeless the great Oscar Wilde was.

28 Days Later   It’s one of Ireland’s finest again Cillian Murphy in the Danny Boyle-directed film where a pandemic is wiping out London.

Jaws   To end another classic horror in the form of Jaws. The story goes that a shark is on the prowl in Amity.   Until next time enjoy! And Happy Halloween everyone. May it be a good one for you and yours! 🙂

X Factor Live Shows Week 2

This week we had the second week of the live shows on X Factor and eleven became ten. The theme this week was love and heartbreak which of course is a theme with so many songs to choose from. So here’s how the acts got on.

Sam Bailey

This week after her stellar performance of The Power of Love last week, Bailey sang To Make You Feel My Love and dedicated it to her husband Craig. So sweet. Though I have to admit that I didn’t think she sang it very well.

Kingsland Road

This week they sang Marry You by Bruno Mars. I love Bruno Mars but I didn’t think they sang it well and I felt their needed to be at least one lead vocalist. Song 2 every week seems to be when the overly cheesy choregraphy comes out and I didn’t like the choregraphy but obviously that has nothing to do with the lads. I personally love Josh’s voice especially and would love to see him do a bit of lead vocals.

Nicholas MacDonald

Next was Nicholas and this week he had another effortless performance singing Robbie Williams’ She’s The One. It was flawless! And I liked the choregraphy. It reminded me of the fab choregraphy done for Ronan Keating when he done his version of She Moved Through the Fair. Huge contender to win.

Abi Alton

This week Abi sang Kylie Minogue’s I Can’t Get You Out of My Head and though I liked the choregraphy I didn’t think she sang it very well.

Shelley Smith

This week Shelley bidded to stay in the competition after been in the bottom two last week singing Beyonce’s Single Ladies. I didn’t think she sang it well. The dancers moves were sexy. Also Happy Birthday Shelley!

Miss Dynamix

Miss Dynamix were due to perform next. However Sese was taken ill and brought to hospital so they couldn’t. Gary said they heard she was alright and I was so glad to hear that because she looked so weak and unwell in the VT clip. It’s a lot of pressure I’d say for a woman who is so heavily pregnant and I wish her the best in her recovery. I’m really glad her and the baby are alright.

Sam Callahan

Sam sang I Won’t Give Up which is a song I love. I was so glad that he did so well this week and his work ethic is extremely admirable. Also loved his outfit this week. The stylish Mr. Callahan. If he keeps working hard he could be a contender to win.

Tamera Foster

Tamera’s outfit was stunning. Loved it! She sang Emile Sande and Labrinth’s Beneath Your Beautiful which is a song I love and which always reminds me of Union J because they sang it for the semi-final last year. She sang it perfectly.

Luke Friend

Luke sang Passenger’s Let Her Go. He sang it incredibly well. I didn’t get the boat either but Louis’ comeback that it was “because he was sailing through to next week” was so quick-witted and amazing.

Rough Copy

This week Rough Copy sang the Backstreet Boys’ I Want It That Way. Amazing as always. Simple as that. Love their outfits too. Definite contenders to win.

Hannah Barrett

From singing first last week to singing last this week Hannah sang Beautiful by Christina Aguilera. I can relate to her VT. I thought she sang the song beautifully. It is a really hard song to sing and not too many people sing it well outside of Christina Aguilera. The only other time I heard someone sing it well was Amber Rielly on Glee and Hannah’s version reminded me of her version which means it was amazing! Another contender to win.

Next came the flash vote. The act who finished last this week were Kingsland Road. The following night it was revealed that Shelley would be joining Kingsland Road in the sing-off this week. Sharon saved Shelley but the other judges all saved Kingsland Road so Shelley left this week. Hard luck Shelley.

Next week is movie week. I think Sam Bailey should blast out Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You from The Bodyguard. She’ll do it amazing.

X Factor First Live Show!

So all the tears of Judges’ Houses are behind us all for another year and this week we moved on to the first live show from the class of 2013. After Dermot had took to the stage and the judges were seated the performers took to the stage to give their all and earn a place in next week’s live show. It was 1980s-themed and I love the 1980s from it’s music, style to it’s films, etc … so I love the theme. Hashtag nerd indeed!

Hannah Barrett

First up this year on the live shows was powerhouse vocalist Hannah Barrett. She sang Tina Turner’s What’s Love Got to Do with It? She sang and performed it really well. And I love Tina Turner!

Nicholas MacDonald

Next was the fantastic Nicholas MacDonald. I loved him singing Spandau Ballet’s True. I love the song and he did it justice. I didn’t think the choregraphy worked. I know it’s the 80s and cheesy is good but that was too cheesy. Still that was nothing to do with Nicholas who did his part of the performance amazingly. Such an effortless voice.

Miss Dynamix
Miss Dynamix sang The Pointer Sisters’ Jump. While I like them as a band I don’t think this performance worked.

Sam Bailey
Sam was amazing. She sang The Power of Love. It was brilliant. Breathtaking!

Sam Callahan
The two Sams came one after the other and as much as I love Sam Callahan it wasn’t great. He really went for it and performed it well but vocally it didn’t work. It needed more of an edge. It probably wasn’t the right song. Bryan Adams’ Summer of ’69 is very edgy and rocky and Sam is a pop singer so it was a bad fit. I really hoped he get through though because I like him.

Kingsland
I love Kingsland and I thought their harmonies on Wham’s I’m Your Man were fantastic. And I absolutely love Wham!

Shelley Lewis (Smith)
Wow. She was amazing. Vocally it was flawless and it was “good cheese” as Louis said. It was theatrical and fabulous. I absolutely love the song, Heart’s Alone, and Sharon did a fantastic job in helping us see a new side to Shelley as a performer. Kudos to them both. It was amazing.

Abi Alton
Abi sang Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer. I love the song and I think Abi did a great new version of it.

Lorna Simpson
I love Lorna’s voice. I thought vocally it was hit and miss but I thought she performed it really well. I hoped she’d get through because I think she has more to give. She does have an amazing voice! Also the hot men were beautiful with their chests shown and those tight leather trousers. Oh wow, wow, wow, someone get me a fan!

Tamera Foster
I think Tamera has a great voice but I don’t think this performance of Chaka Khan’s Ain’t Nobody worked.

Luke Friend
I thought Luke’s performance of Every Breath You Take by The Police was hit and miss. But he has got a really good and unique tone to his voice.

Rough Copy
I love Rough Copy. Amazing band. I loved them last year as well as this year and am so happy they came back and made the live shows this year. Best performance of the night tonight. They done their own version of Phil Collins In The Air Tonight and everything was perfect about it from the vocals to the choregraphy to the styling to the graphics in the background. They performed it so well. Me and My sister love Phil Collins too.

Then we had the new Flash Vote which is a ten-minute public vote where the contestant who finished last in the public vote is told that they will be singing in tomorrow night’s sing-off the night before. The act this week was Shelley.

The final 12 sang Daft Punk’s Get Lucky and it was a really good performance. We had brilliant guest performances from Ellie Goulding and Cher. Huge Cher fan so it was great to see her on it. From the remaining 11 contestantants the act to join Shelley in the bottom 2 was Lorna.

Shelley and Lorna did an amazing sing-off. Shelley sang Jennifer Hudson’s One Night Only and Lorna sang Faith Hill’s There You’ll Be. Though I thought they were both brilliant I did think Lorna was better. However Sharon didn’t vote and with Gary voting for Lorna but Louis and Nicole voting for Shelley, Lorna became the first to leave X Factor this year. Hard luck Lorna, best of luck with your career. You have a really great voice girl and you should be really proud of yourself!

I have to say well done to everyone on actually getting out there and performing on the telly in front of all those people. It’s not easy, their very brave and they should be very proud of themselves.
