First up is episode 29 in Crash Course’s Black American History series with Clint Smith. In this episode Clint talks about the Tuskegee Experiment and the appalling way black people have been treated and are still being treated in the fields of healthcare and science. As always a really informative episode.
TV
Next is Be Kind Rewind’s excellent video about the Addams Family’s films and sitcom. In the video we hear about how the Addams Family tackled important issues like racism in a time when there wasn’t many tv shows doing so.
Art
Next up is Kaz Rowe’s really interesting video on the life of artist JC Leyendecker. We hear about his relationship with his partner Charles Beach who also modelled a lot for him. We also hear about his relationships with his brother Frank and his sister Augusta. Kaz speaks about JC’s art and his struggle to keep his life as a gay man private in the times he lived where it would have been dangerous for him had his sexuality and romantic orientation been exposed.
Music
Next up is Billy Porter’s Children. I adore the music video. Such an amazing message. A really great, upbeat song and Billy sounds amazing on the track. Love it! 🙂
Finally for today we have a song for the Christmas season from Priyanka called Sleigh My Name. I think the song is really catchy and the music video is really fun. Very enjoyable.
