One Million And One Amazing Pets By Connie Goyette Crawley Review!

One Million and One Amazing Pets (One Million and One: The Our World Series Book 2)

One Million And One Amazing Pets (2019) by Connie Goyette Crawley is the second book in the author’s One Million and One: The Our World Series Book series.

This book has many interesting facts about animals from all around the world with numerous interactive elements in the eBook to reveal further information. Wonderful photographs throughout to accompany the information too. This is a great book for both providing entertainment for children and helping them learn about animals and countries all in one go. For adults, there is also much to be learned and I will admit I didn’t know a lot of what was in this book myself so I learned too and I am sure all adults out there will too! 🙂

There is also an amazing section at the back with questions to ask before you get a pet which encourages children to be responsible when they are thinking of giving a pet a home. There is also a great trivia section to help children remember and test themselves on what they have learned throughout the book. I am very happy that this book was created for children who love animals as many, many years ago when I was a child, I used to purchase a magazine called Animals And You each week and it is nice to see that children with an interest in animals still have great material about animals to read. It is an amazing interest to have and I know the joy this book will bring to a lot of children.

Brilliant book.

Tilly and Torg: Up In The Air By Connie Goyette Crawley Review!

Tilly and Torg - Up In The Air

Tilly and Torg: Up In The Air (2019) by Connie Goyette Crawley is another great adventure of the adorable monsters Tilly and Torg.

In this book, the pair learn about how the airport and taking a flight works. After been asked to a party at Auntie Glo’s house, the wonderful duo embark on a flight to get there but their experience is anything but average due to Tilly being confused by how it all works and Torg helping Tilly through as usual!

I love how in this series the two monsters have very distinct personalities and those personalities carry through so authentically to every situation they find themselves in. This is another fun read and shows that with determination and preparation, one can achieve anything one sets their mind to which is a great message.

The book teaches children many new words as well as how airports work in an accessible and fun way.

A fantastic read.

Tilly And Torg: Out To Eat By Connie Goyette Crawley Review!

Tilly and Torg: Out To Eat

Tilly And Torg: Out To Eat (2017) by Connie Goyette Crawley is a great read with fantastic illustrations.

In this book these two adorable monsters head out to eat in a restaurant. Tilly is confused by how to act in the restaurant and Torg is helping Tilly with eating out etiquette. It is a very fun read with many comical moments. It also has a great message about being mannerly and polite to people. There is also great learning activities at the end of the book. A wonderful book for children to learn how to say and spell new words.

I like the dynamics between Tilly and Torg. They are both very likeable characters but I do especially like Tilly. Tilly is super funny and has some great lines which come from confusion while Torg is the responsible monster who helps Tilly a lot. Their friendship is beautiful.

A really great read.

Paddington Takes The Test By Michael Bond Review!

Paddington Takes the Test (Paddington, #11)

Paddington Takes The Test (1979) by Michael Bond is a wonderful fun-filled book.

In this book Paddington goes on numerous adventures including trying out a hammock, being a model in an art studio, accidentally locking his neighbour Mr. Curry in a sauna, taking a driving test, going to a stately house and the theatre, doing some ironing and designing and getting a gift for Mr. Brown’s birthday.

I really enjoyed the book from start to finish. Paddington is such a fantastic protagonist. Really adorable and really funny. He makes each story brilliant with his sparkling personality. The writing is outstanding, flows incredibly easily and is super imaginative and creative. Great slices of life.

A very joyful must-read.

Amazing YOU!: A Celebration Of Individuality! By Connie Goyette Crawley Review!

Amazing YOU! A Celebration of Individuality

Amazing YOU!: A Celebration Of Individuality! (2016) by Connie Goyette Crawley is a lovely childrens’ book.

The book is about protagonist Jenna and an elephant Ed, a zebra Maxine, a hippo Sue, a giraffe Paul, a monkey Mike and a rhino Jax. Each of them have something about them which they see as a flaw and wish to change. The book has a fantastic message about embracing your individuality and respecting the differences in both yourself and other people. It is a lovely story of friendship and kindness. The illustrations are also wonderful and really get the author’s story across really well.

This was a joy to read. I think it’s wonderful that there is a book out there like this for children in a world where kids are not always encouraged to embrace their individuality and may face bullying. It shows that there is others out there who will not judge you with the same horrible cruelty and therefore the message the writer puts across here in a very entertaining and sweet way is a very vital message. It is also a great book for adults as it is a nice reminder to be confident in you as even we have moments where we forget to embrace who we are too. And it is a reminder to us all that everyone has insecurities about something too.

A really beautiful book.

Magic Ballerina: Delphie and the Magic Ballet Shoes By Darcey Bussell Review!

Delphie and the Magic Ballet Shoes (Magic Ballerina, Book 1) by [Darcey Bussell]

Magic Ballerina: Delphie and the Magic Ballet Shoes (2009) By Darcey Bussell is the first book in the author/dancer/TV judge’s series of childrens’ books.

In this first book, the protagonist Delphie is asked by Madame Zarakova to join her ballet school. Delphie and her family can’t afford to send her but Madame Zarakova sees potential and gives her these battered but magical ballet shoes. As the book unfolds, we realise that these shoes will get her to the land of Enchantia where the characters in The Nutcracker are left unable to dance by Evil King Rat. Delphie finds herself on her first mission since acquiring the ballet shoes with the help of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

I find the plot very imaginative and cleverly put together. The way the class is practicing The Nutcracker and then that leads into the situation in Enchantia is very cleverly done. I love how Delphie is working-class and loves ballet, which would probably be thought by many as ‘above our station’, how the author shows that passion and hard work can get you anywhere from any background and how the ballet shoes are battered and old instead of shiny, glossy little things. There is a lot of great messages in this book for children and for any children who love ballet and dance it will very enjoyable I’m sure. Darcey also includes some dance steps at the back of the book.

There is a few technical ballet terms which might be difficult for children to understand but I think that is probably my only tiny issue with it. It is a great read for children and quite a good read for adults too!

A great start to the series.
