Children often like games
and the wounded child within plays
some vicious and long-lasting ones.
The course I have taken,
who I am and where I am,
it feels sad sometimes
where the wounded child within has led me,
I feel ashamed.
Where I am and who I am
and the fact that there is still a chance
to thrive and not just survive,
the idea that I am now conquering
the wounded child within,
I feel proud
and to all looking out for me
I feel grateful,
the wounded child is dying,
game over.
It is you who save me all the time,
I give myself to you
because I trust you,
help me through the trials I face in life,
help me to find the strength to overcome tests
and continue to love and guide and protect me.
Protect my loved ones and those I care about,
they have their struggles,
please be by their sides.
Protect those facing war all over the world,
give them comfort and love,
take them in your arms and shield them,
dry their tears and ensure their safety.
Protect the world,
give us all love and strength,
take care of us,
be there for us all,
my trust is in you
because you can and always know best
and come with love.
The Princess And The Wizard (2006) by Julia Donaldson & Lydia Monks is a joyful read.
Princess Eliza gets a nasty shock at her birthday party when a wicked wizard turns up and turns her parents and guests into stone. The wicked wizard kidnaps Princess Eliza but her Fairy Godmother gives her a lifeline by granting her seven wishes to use to escape. She can use the wishes to change her colour and shape to escape. She turns into animals and objects of different colours in her bid for freedom.
It is a well put together book. The story flows very well and is really interesting. The illustrations are stunning and the characters are very likeable. The book will teach children about colours, animals, shapes and objects in a fun way.
A great read.

Peppa Pig: Daddy Pig’s Fun Run (2010) is a lovely read from the My First Storybook series.
The book follows the story of Daddy Pig as he attempts to get to the finish line in the fun run in a bid to get money to fix the roof of the school.
It is a really fun read with excellent illustrations. The story is well-told, joyful and has really beautiful messages of determination, wanting to do good deeds and being a great Father.
A joyful book that children and adults alike will adore. 🙂
