The amazing Wicked ensemble!

The amazing Wicked ensemble!

Last week I went to see the musical Wicked in the Bord Gais Theatre with my sister Sharon. So many musicals have huge hype and don’t live up to this hype but Wicked is completely different. It was clear that this was a successful show from very early on from the writing, to the acting and to the set design and costumes. In fact on a personal note the only downside for me was that the characters of Crope and Tibbett weren’t in this particular musical version as I know they are quite minor characters in the book by the amazing Gregory Maguire but they are my favourite characters.

Elphaba and Glinda were played respectively by Nikki Davis-Jones and Emily Tierney while the male lead was played by the very beautiful (and slight Jaymi Hensley lookalike) Liam Doyle played Fiyero. They were supported by the talents of Marilyn Cutts as Madame Morrible, Dale Ripley as both The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Doctor Dillamond, Carina Gillespie as Nessarose and the very handsome George Ure as Boq who I must mention as been a really good comic actor. His timing was absolutely perfect. The ensemble also complimented everyone very well because after all a cast is nothing without their ensemble.

The team working behind the scenes ensured that the musical went off to perfection. Directing was done perfectly by Joe Mantello while Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman combined brilliantly to ensure that the music and lyrics and the script worked well together while Wayne Cilento, who is currently working on Holler If Ya Hear Me which features Tapac Shakur’s music, was responsible for musical staging. The beautiful set which brought the whole world of the book to life was done by the supremely talented Eugene Lee while costume duties fell to Susan Hilferty who made the characters’ personalities shine through. Lighting and sound were respectively in the hands of Kenneth Posner and Tony Meola who both did a fantastic job of creating a fabulous dramatic atmosphere. Make-up was did superbly by Joe Delude II who had a massive job especially with Elphaba’s make-up and it looked so professional.

It was an incredible musical which included everything from drama to humour to love to style and all-round fabulousness. And I loved it! It was a great day out.

Thanks as always to the staff for been amazing and helpful and well done to everyone involved. πŸ™‚

I Introduce 2014!

Well we welcomed the New Year of 2014! I was personally holding a Heineken in one hand and a cigarette in the other as the ‘ole clock counted down but don’t judge! πŸ™‚

Happy New Year Everyone!

Happy New Year Everyone!

So on a personal note, what do I have to expect from the new year? Well my new year’s resolutions are to go on a diet and to cut down on cigarettes. Hopefully that shall last until at least the end of January. I also have my course to finish. That’ll be up to the end of April and hopefully I’ll have something organised for September. I hope someone will give me a job but things are kind of in a bad way over here in Ireland but I’ll keep pestering poor souls with my CV like in 2013. I also want to continue my writing and my singing because I just love them and it’d be amazing to make a career out of one or both of them but if not I’ll have love them as a hobby.

On a personal note I hope to find love but that has to happen authentically and shouldn’t be pushed. There might be someone out there who might like a nerdy eccentric. You never know, you never know!

I also plan on having fun. Obviously going drinking with my sister but also I’m heading to Union J in Dublin when those four sexy men come, Wicked where I can giggle along with my favourites Crope and Tibbett and The X Factor concert where Sam Callahan can leave us all in a sweat! I do hope to get to Maroon 5 later in the year. Robin Thicke is playing support too so that’d be a good gig and McBusted. Always have been a huge McFly fan. My best mate loved Busted when we were younger and I loved McFly. And of course a few more musicals would be good to get to too.

Though of course the biggest wish for 2014 would be health and happiness for my family and I. They are the most important things after all and I wish that to you and yours too! πŸ™‚

My Christmas Day Out With My Sister Sharon!

Shopping was the order of the day!

Shopping was the order of the day!

Today I spent the day in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin with my sister doing some shopping. We’ve been saving up for a bit and it was such fun!

We first went to get our three sets of tickets for next year and seen Andrew Mann on the way into the shopping centre and he looked as cool in reality as he does on TV. They were Union J, The X Factor Live concert and Wicked. That should be an amazing start to the year of 2014. Was delighted with our seating at each event and will of course blog about them all!

We went to have our meal in MacDonalds choosing from the delightful eurosaver menu. It was lovely.

We also did some shopping. Dealz in Dun Laoghaire really is a great place! I got a pedometer. I have been looking for one of those for a bit. It is a tiny adorable pink one that you just put on your waistline and it clocks up the steps. Will be fab when I start my diet in the new year. I also got my handcream which had run out recently and some BB cream. We’ll see if it’s worth all the fuss now! We got mum some face cream and we bought wrapping paper and some glittery red gift bags and tinsel as well as some adorable dog and cat gift bags. We also got some chocolates with desert inside them. Yum! We also went to Supervalu in the shopping centre there. We got 2 bottles of wine and a few other bits and pieces. We also went to a tiny shop and my sis got the lottos. Fingers crossed for a win! And I tried to get Crimbo name cards for my mum and sis but they didn’t have their names.

We went and came home on the train. My pedometer was on since I left the shop and I checked it at the station. 4,824 already! You take more steps than you think, don’t you?! We almost missed our stop because I was showing Shar how to get into the contacts section on her phone.

It was a great day and we completely enjoyed the day! πŸ™‚
