My Opinion On The Last Five In X-Factor!

We have reached the final 5 in this year’s X-Factor and next week promises to be a treat after the jukebox landed on Louis Loves meaning eight of Louis’ favourites next week as the artists will perform two tracks each from this week. Very exciting! But what is my take on the final five acts vying for X-Factor 2016 glory? (And what songs do I think they should sing at some stage before the end?) Read on to find out …

Emily Middlemas

I’m not really crazy about Emily’s voice. I did think she was good at Judges Houses but outside of then I haven’t being that impressed. On the plus side she is going to be doing a fast song for the first time in the competition this week and it’ll be nice to see how she does it.

Songs: I’m So Excited by The Pointer Sisters
From Eden by Hozier

Five After Midnight

The lads have had some ropey weeks. In my opinion their performances of Valerie, Thriller and Try A Little Tenderness weren’t great. But other than that they had had some very good weeks and are clearly a talented and polished act. I really like them and they are my second favourite from the top five. They are one of two acts left that I think with the right songs could have a very good career outside of the competition.

Songs: Yeah! by Usher ft. Lil John, Ludacris
Where Is The Love? by The Black Eyed Peas

Honey G

Honey G isn’t the greatest singer or rapper in the world but I do admire in a way that she gets up there when it’s clear that she isn’t if that makes sense. It’s almost like a punk attitude in a more commercial setting. I think the amount of hate she gets is pretty ridiculous. It’s only a singing competition after all and as viewers we are meant to judge whether we think someone is good or not, not take hates against people. And it is brave of her to get up there every week despite the level of criticism thrown her way so regularly.

Songs: Straight Outta Compton by N.W.A.
Bust A Move by Young MC

Matt Terry

Like Emily, I am not that crazy about Matt’s voice. Considering he is odds on favourite as I write this it’s probably an opinion that’s in the minority. I loved his version of She’s Out Of My Life at Judges Houses but otherwise I haven’t being impressed by his performances. I love Sam Smith and Matt’s performance of Writing’s On The Wall to me wasn’t great this week.

Songs: 7 Years by Lukas Graham
She’s Like The Wind by Patrick Swayze

Saara Aalto

Saara is my favourite. I think she is so professional. She’s a great singer and performer and she hasn’t did a bad performance in the whole show. Her performance of It’s Oh So Quiet by Bjork in particular was excellent as was Enough Is Enough. Like Five After Midnight with the right songs she could have a great career outside of the competition. She’s an all-rounder.

Songs: Nothing Compares To You by Sinead O’Connor
Walking On Broken Glass by Annie Lennox

X Factor Concert Review!

On the 20th of February I went to the yearly X Factor concert which took place at the 3Arena with my mum and my sister. It was a good night out. Seann Miley Moore and Anton Stephens were huge highlights on the night. Seann Miley Moore’s performance of David Bowie’s Life On Mars was emotional after the death of David Bowie. The crowd all raised their phones and lights in tribute to Bowie which was a beautiful moment. Miley Moore’s voice is outstanding and flowed wonderfully around the arena on both this song and his other solo of the night Queen’s The Show Must Go On. Anton Stephans was also brilliant with his solos of One Sweet Day, Dance With My Father and in particular I Am Changing.

Further highlights included their group number of Downtown, Lauren Murray’s performance of You Don’t Own Me, Reggie N Bollie’s What Makes You Beautiful / Cheerleader, Louisa Johnson’s Billie Jean and Maison Noise’s Men In Black as well as duets like Shaun Miley Moore’s and 4th Impact’s mashup of Fancy / Rich Girl and Che Chesterman’s and Lauren Murray’s duet of Valerie.

My Current Favourites In X Factor 2015!

This year’s X Factor competition is well underway and this year it’s been all about the boys category for me. In addition their mentor Nick Grimshaw is my favourite judge on the show.

So basically six of my current favourites are the six boys in the boys’ category but let’s take a look at my nine current favourites from this year’s show:

Seann Miley Moore

Anyone who can sing a Queen song brilliantly has me from the off and watching Seann’s audition of Queen’s The Show Must Go On was one of those incredible moments where you think yeah you totally deserve to be doing this. I think Seann is the best singer in the show this year and is therefore my winner. He is also a great performer and has such excellent style. He also is a really nice guy. Good luck Seann! 🙂

Ben Clark

Ben has this very authentic, passionate vocal brimming with edge. He also is a nice guy, quite shy and introverted which is always nice because us introverts are usually nice people. He’s a pure rocker and is my second favourite in the competition this year.

Mason Noise

I’m delighted Mason’s back. I honestly don’t get why some people don’t like him. He had his opinion and the last time I looked having your own mind and opinion was a good thing. It was a professional, artistic debate he was having with Simon Cowell and I personally think there was nothing wrong with saying how he felt. And to be honest I agreed with him. If a competition is to be done fairly everyone should have the same amount of time on the TV, like on The Voice programmes. I think for himself he should put it in the past now and hopefully Simon will do the same. Mason has this edgy coolness about him and he is talented. He is a nice guy and is my third favourite this year.

Che Chesterman

Che is a very good soul singer. I also like his personality. I actually like all the lads in Nick’s category’s personalities. In another year maybe I’d be backing him for live shows but I just prefer the other three lads but he is a very good singer.

Simon Lynch

I like the musical theatre side to Simon’s voice and he’s a nice guy. It is a very strong category, like Che maybe in another year I’d be backing him for the live shows but he is talented.

Josh Daniel

Geez Nick does have a difficult old decision on his hands, doesn’t he?! The final act in Nick’s category is Josh who has a very good soul/pop voice. Again he’s a nice guy and in another year maybe I’d be backing him for live shows but he is a good singer.

Chloe Paige

Chloe is great. I love her whole hippie style and (speaking as a hippie!) we need a hippie on the show at live shows! She also has a great voice showcased very much by her very brave decision to sing Amazing Grace acapella at the Six Chairs round. She’s a nice girl and is my favourite of the girls.

Max Stone

I like his personality and his vocals. He’s brilliant and I was glad he got through tonight although I would have put Jennifer through too.

Anton Stephens

Anton’s vocal is so powerful and he’s a nice man. I also adore his dog Honey. 🙂

The X Factor Concert 2015 Review!

Recently my mum, sister and I went to The X Factor 2015 concert at the Three Arena.

We had a lovely time at the concert with everyone been brilliant live. My favourites live though were Ben, Andrea and Stevi. This year for the first time (well in the last three years anyway) there was an announcement of who was coming next which my mum has been saying for ages and she was right, it really worked with the show. The lightening was amazing and all the effects were too. Fleur and Stevi were surprises because I didn’t think they were going to be as good as they were and they were great. Fleur’s standout was Thriller and Stevi’s was Footloose. He’s not a bad singer and a great entertainer. Fleur has both the singing and the dancing skills. I don’t know how she does the two together and sometimes in heels too!

Andrea has this incredible emotive voice. It’s so amazing. You kind of sit there in awe. He’s brilliant. He sang four songs including my personal favourite cover of his Earth Song and then Ben is just as hot in reality. But his accent is even sexier. It’s very Croydon and very beautiful. He did six songs which included my favourite of his Highway To Hell which I just completely rocked out to of course! It was so lovely seeing a rocker as the winner and that reflected quite a lot with the crowd because there was more rockers than usual. He’s the best winner I’ve seen in the three years.

Lauren also gave a brilliant, slowed-down performance of Happy while Only The Young gave a fun uptempo performance of I Want You Back. Stereo Kicks done a lovely job of a Beatles medley while Jay sang Sigma’s Changing well.

Andrea Faustini Lands Record Deal!

Former X Factor finalist Andrea Faustini has signed a record deal with RCA. The 20-year-old Italian is set to release an album consisting of original material later in the year.

“Only a year ago I was a normal student in Italy with a dream to sing. Thanks to the UK public my dream is about to become a reality and I can’t wait to work with RCA and show everyone what I can do.”

– Andrea speaking about the great news.

And he is already in the recording studio working on new music while also participating on the X Factor tour. Busy indeed! He has posted a photograph on his Twitter page saying:

Andrea will join forces with some successful songwriters to create the debut album though names have not been announced yet. In the meantime Andrea celebrated his achievement of securing a record deal last week with a meal at fast food chain Five Guys.

Congrats Andrea! All the best of luck! 🙂

Rock Reigns Supreme as Ben Haenow Is Crowned X-Factor Champ!

Tonight Croydon’s Ben Haenow was crowned the winner of X Factor 2014!

The talented rock singer battled against fellow competitors Fleur East who was second and Andrea Faustini who was third. The 29-year-old van driver was winning the contest from week four after his sexy and amazing performance of AC/DC’s Highway To Hell and maintained his winning streak to the end of the show winning against Fleur 57.2% to 34.3%.

Following his win, an emotional Ben said:

“Thank you so much for making my dreams come true.”

His mentor Simon Cowell said:

“A fantastic runner up Fleur. I could not be happier for you, Ben, you deserve it. You’re a great guy, this is your moment.”

Over the course of the weekend, Ben sung Demons by Imagine Dragons, Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran with the man himself, Man In The Mirror with Michael Jackson and the winner’s single Something I Need by OneRepublic.

The song is great and Ben sings it perfectly and Mel B seems to agree saying,

“That song was made for you. You pulled it back, then you put it out there. You gave range to your vocals and gave it light and shade.”

It’s a great night for Ben. It’s a great night for rock music. Well done Ben! Well-deserved! 🙂

Here is Ben singing his new single:

A Day Out In Dún Laoghaire With My Girls!

I had a lovely day out in Dún Laoghaire recently with my mum and sister. We first headed to Ticketmaster which is basically part of a small shop in the shopping centre and where we get all our concert/musical tickets when we can afford them! And today we got tickets for Placebo at The Olympia and The X Factor Tour in the O2 in 2015. After that, me and mum brought scratchcards from the shop (trying to reclaim some of the money we had spent on our tickets! Hehe!) and I won 25 Euros. Yay!

Then I headed down to the record store. Got three Vinyl stickers: The Rolling Stones, AC/DC and “Plug In … Tune Up … Rock Out”. Possibles for my guitar! 🙂 and we then went and had a look around Penneys. Got some dog pjs. The girls got pjs too and then we went to Dealz and I got this incredible calendar for 2015. It has all Rock Legends in it from Sting to Gene Simmons, Bryan Adams, Jon Bon Jovi and my own two personal favourites Freddie Mercury and Jimi Hendrix. It’s amazing. We also went to Tesco and then we went home after that.

It was a lovely day out and we’re looking forward to the gigs. Me and my sister were laughing on the way home about how February is going to be a hot month because we’ll be seeing both Brian Molko and Ben Haenow in the flesh! Really looking forward to that indeed! 🙂

Andrea Faustini Speaks To OK! Magazine!

I want to be best friends with Andrea Faustini! He’s amazing and it was great reading his interview with OK! Magazine in which the Italian X Factor semi-finalist donned the whole English Gentleman look with clothes supplied by Moss Bros amongst others. The interview took place in the Kensington Hotel and Faustini, 20, spoke about his family, his love life, his past singing experiences, famous fans, his fellow contestants, the X Factor judges, British food and culture and how he will remain true to himself.

Speaking about his close relationship with his family, he said,

“I used to share every single moment with my family. My sister was like my best friend. Just lying on the sofa at home, talking and laughing with them. They come and see me whenever they can. So that is important to me. We try to be in contact every day with Skype and FaceTime. When they come over for a weekend I get to spend time with them.”

Was so sweet reading that because I’m really close to my family too and my sister has always been like my best friend too. 🙂

On the topic of his love life he said how he has never been in a relationship or never been kissed saying,

“No, I have never been in a relationship. It just hasn’t happened. I was kissed by a dolphin in Mexico.”

And admitted he has never had his heart broken saying,

“No, fortunately.”

But this is not his first time doing the whole reality TV singing thing. He was previously the winner of Italian talent show Ti Lascio Una Canzone and said of the experience,

“I was only 13. It was a good experience. It helped me to grow. Maybe it helped performing in front of big audiences.”

And he has tried for the Italian X Factor too,

“I tried four times. The first three times I didn’t even get to go before the judges. This year, I did and got four yeses. But I got them here. So I made a choice and my choice was England!”

Yes, I understand! We all know producer’s rounds well who do auditions for singing shows! 🙂

And he spoke about finally getting to the judges’ round saying,

“I am a huge fan of The X Factor UK. I admire the way the shows made, the music choices and the atmosphere in the studio. A lot of famous singers have come from the show. I couldn’t believe I was going in front of the judges. At first, it was just like a holiday. There were thousands of people and I thought, why would they pick me? But then everything happened so fast.”

When asked how he felt about Kate Moss and Ed Sheeran been fans he said,

“I used to see them on TV at home and now they’re rooting for me. It’s weird but beautiful.”

On the topic of his fellow contestants he was asked if he was sad when current I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Jake Quickenden went out of the show,

“I was very sad. I was also sad about Lola and Paul going. I got on with Jake from the start and I think he saw me as a little brother. He was very protective of me.”

Speaking about Jake going into the jungle he said,

“I think he’ll be fine. He’s the sort of person who can deal with all different sorts of situations, and the type who will be nice to everyone.”

Asked about his favourite contestants he said,

“I did like Paul. I thought he had an amazing voice. I also like Lauren; she is so young, talented and very mature considering her age.”

But he admitted no one on the show caught his eye saying,

“Oh, no!”

Speaking about his mentor Mel B he said,

“I love her! She’s very easy to speak to and is very humble. She works hard. She’s not just a judge to me. She is like a friend. She helps me in the choice of song, staging and production. I am happy just to be working with her. She is not so scary!”

Speaking about Simon Cowell’s comments from Big Band week when he did a flawless performance of Ella Fitzgerald’s Summertime he said,

“I’m not happy but I know his comments are important. He said I pull faces. But I will try not to think about it while I’m singing. Otherwise I am done for. I want to please Simon so fingers crossed! (laughs) I read he had apologised to me and Lauren. I think that’s fair. He is the boss and I think the fact he apologised shows he cares.”

Speaking about moving judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini to tears with his emotive singing voice he said,

“You put everything into what you sing. If you see somebody crying that means you’re doing something good.”

Speaking about Britain he said,

“It’s not my first time here but I just love this country and the city. Rome and London are both beautiful but so different. I like the atmosphere of London. It seems very modern. You can find literally everything you want here. Although it is also full of art and history – similar to Rome. I like fish and chips, cottage pie but you are not good at pasta. I’m sorry. You try, that is commendable. But please stop trying! I have just found a new thing that I love – Terry’s Chocolate Orange!”

Speaking about remaining true to himself in an industry where certain images of people are encouraged he said,

“If I don’t like something I can speak up. It’s me on that stage so I have to be happy with what I’m doing or wearing. I still eat everything that is in front of me. I’m not changing.”

And we all love you just as you are Andrea! 🙂
