Molly Sterling Set To Represent Ireland At Eurovision 2015!

Molly Sterling is set to represent us at Eurovision 2015 with the song entitled Playing With Numbers which the 16-year-old Tipperary girl wrote with Greg French. The pop/rock tune, which Sterling sung and played at the piano, deservedly won out over the rest of the competition on Ireland Late Late Show Eurosong contest. Panelists on the night were Panti Bliss, Mairéad Farrell, Phil Coulter and Linda Martin and the show as always was presented by Ryan Tubridy.

“The lyrical maturity of that song, for a 16-year-old, is astounding.”

– Panti Bliss.

“What’s also great is she’s young, but she’s also styled young. Nobody has tried to make her look ten years older than she is.”

– Mairéad Farrell.

I think for the first time in a long time we have a good chance of doing quite well. 🙂

Kasey Smith To Represent Ireland In Eurovision While Linda Martin and Billy McGuinness Have Spat!

Kasey Smith will represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision contest!

Billy and Linda have their spat!

Kasey Smith, from Can-Linn is set to represent Ireland with the song Heartbeat in the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest this May in Copenhagen for the 59th Eurovision.

Her mentor Hazel Kaneswaren introduced her act, who finished second to Ryan Dolan in last year’s Eurosong contest, Smith who performed in a stunning green dress and had Irish dancers showing their talent as she sung in an effort by her mentor to have a complete show as well as a good song.

After the final song was set to be performed an argument erupted between former Eurovision winner, with Why Me?, and Aslan’s Billy McGuinness after McGuinness said that he felt Walsh should not be on the panel because of his connections to former X Factor contestant Eoghan Quigg and former Wonderland singer Kasey Smith. McGuinness, who was mentor to the final contestant Laura O’Neill, said that it was “not a level playing field” before O’Neill performed ‘You Don’t Remember Me’.

Following O’Neill’s stunning performance Martin called McGuinness an “odious little man” before O’Neill questioned her connections having been involved in the search for Walsh’s new boyband in which Quigg made the top ten.

Taken part also was performers Patricia Roe and Andrew Mann.

Well done Kasey and the team! Good luck in Copenhagen! Best night of Eurosong ever! Well done Billy! Someone had to say what we were all thinking! 🙂

Kian Egan appeared on The Late Late Show this week!

I watched current king of the jungle Westlife star Kian Egan talking on The Late Late Show on RTE over here in Ireland this week.

Egan, from Sligo, spoke about his time in the jungle saying that his biggest challenges while participating in the ITV show were missing loved ones, the lack of food and been cut off from society. He spoke about how he prayed to his deceased father Kevin every night while he was in the jungle.

His mother Patricia, his brother and his sisters were in the audience and his mum spoke. She spoke about how she wasn’t worried about Kian going into the jungle because she knew he was an adventurer but that she was worried that he wouldn’t take care of his skin and get sunburn. Kian also revealed that his mum sent him a sent saying how his father would have been proud of him the jungle and that he reminded her of his dad.

The moment when he seen Jodi in the jungle was played and Kian revealed how he knew when he seen Jodi there that everything outside with his son Koa and all his loved ones was Ok and settled. He spoke about how listening to fellow campmates Alfonso Ribeiro and Vincent Simone talk about recently having babies made him broody to want to have another child with Jodi.

Egan also spoke about the differences in the fame he had in Westlife and the fame he had since leaving I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here’s jungle. He revealed that when he was in Westlife he would get people saying that they liked his music but now he would get people saying that they thought he was a really nice person.

He spoke about fellow campmate Joey Essex and how he advised Joey to save more money whilst in the jungle. He spoke about how Joey had a Gucci pair of shorts for a sum of 350 while his shorts which looked identical were a sum of 50. And then we seen Kian’s jackets throughout the years, some of which were expensive but Kian was quick to point out he didn’t choose them all, and an inexpensive jacket which he wore in Grease when he was in secondary school.

He joked presenter Ryan Tubrity when asked what he hoped for next, “to stand up and he’d show him.” joking that he wanted his job.

Catch Kian on The Voice of Ireland on RTE every Sunday!

Majella O’ Donnell

My blog this week is about a very inspirational woman who done something incredibly brave on live TV on Friday night. On one of the most watched shows on Irish TV – The Late Late Show.

Majella O’ Donnell who is suffering from breast cancer took the brave step of shaving her head live on TV for the benefit of others. She did so to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society. I do voluntary for one of their shops and I felt this was so compassionate of her to think of helping other people when she is going through her own struggles with cancer. She is a businesswoman and also wife of singer Daniel and she has two grown-up children Siobhan, 22 and Michael, 25 from a previous marriage. She quite rightly after the completion of her brave deed for charity and to raise awareness. O’ Donnell also received her new blonde wig on the night and after putting it on joked the audience, “Am I better bald?”

Before she shaved her head, she spoke with host Ryan Tubridy about how she was there to raise awareness about cancer. She also spoke about how Daniel was with her when she received the news she had cancer. Majella also told Tubridy that she has just began chemotherapy. She said how she couldn’t pray for herself because she thought too much but she was able to pray for other people who would be going through the same situation. She has a massive faith said she felt that the prayers people were saying for her were helping her to deal with her situation.

So far the Irish Cancer Society has raised 400000 Euros from Majella’s bravery. To help raise further funds please phone 1850 60 60 60, text “pink” to 50300 (Donates 4 Euros) or go to
