Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2016!

First off the layout of Marc Jacobs’ show for Spring/Summer was great. Very inventive. The way the models walked on the red carpet in front of photographers before going in to walk in front of the orchestra was visually brilliant and original. I’ll be the first to admit that often I don’t know the music from fashion shows so it was great to hear Trash by The New York Dolls. Love that song and that band in general.

The collection is a stunningly unique collection with some pretty funky pieces. The music accompanied the looks really well as many of the looks had a rock vibe to them. There is some stunning prints. Overall the collection is vibrant and original with a brilliant retro vibe.

Here is some of the great looks from the catwalk:

Giles Autumn/Winter 2015

Taking place in the old Central Saint Martins college building, the Giles Autumn/Winter 2015 collection looked stunning. Modelled by top models including Andreja Pejic in her first runway show since undergoing gender reassignment surgery to become a woman, Erin O’Connor, Jessica Stam, Kendall Jenner and Lily Donaldson, the collection had a very understated beauty to it for the most part. I loved the black Victorian looks which just oozed effortless beauty. There was also a few splashes of colour on show which were beautiful too. It is a very elegant collection but it has that gothic, vampy twist too so it is the kind of collection which would suit many tastes. The make-up is stunning too. The black lipstick is amazing. I love the gothic and unique vibe of that.

Maison Margiela Fall/Winter 2015-2016

Maison Margiela’s Fall/Winter show in the Grand Palais was a wonderful celebration of unique style by John Galliano in his debut show for the fashion house. It is an original and vibrant collection which was opened in grand style with a flowing brown coat. Other pieces showcased included a black gothic dress complete with gothic make-up, a full-length black leather coat, a hippie outfit of a green jacket paired with black pinstripe trousers and a black headband and a leopard print and pinstripe look which appeared alongside many black gothic looks bringing the show of 30 looks to a close. There was a theatrical feel which ran through many of the looks too and the combination of looks be it theatrical or gothic or hippie made the show a very individual show which makes it stand out from the crowd in all its fabulous glory.

The make-up and hair was brilliantly executed for this particular show. There was gothic make-up as previously mentioned and an array of models in 80s’ style make-up. There was many different looks in the hair department too with 60s’ hairstyles and stunning hats as well as beautiful headbands that gave a nod to the hippie look.

Accessories also complemented the looks stunningly. Floral was the star of the hour with some quirky and fabulous yellow roses sent down the catwalk and my favourite the black rose which was helping to show off the full perfection of the gothic dress. The orange gloves worked a treat making the looks more original and refreshing. I must also mention the furry boots which were sent down the catwalk with many of the looks. They were quirky, unique and fabulous and I loved them.

Pastel Heaven At Burberry For The New Season!

Burberry has been the epitome of luxury for years and the brand is in safe hands every season with Christopher Bailey at the helm. This season’s output has been no exception to the rule with a catwalk filled with many truly stunning pieces for you to incorporate into your wardrobe for the season.

Key pieces in the designer’s ouvere this season were pale lilac trench coats, soft cashmere jumpers and feminine lacy dresses. The primarily pastel colour palette gave off a carefree, easy aura celebrating vibrancy, joy and femininity. The wide variety of stunning looks were accessorised with bags in shades of dark orange or pink, beautiful belts and breathtaking brooches which model Cara Delevingne and co wore beautifully.

In terms of print, Bailey chose to lose the romance by excluding love hearts in favour of polka dots combined with stripes for a collection that otherwise has a romantic feel to it of falling in love in the summertime. Or the spring. Take your pick. Either way, it was another amazing triumph for this very talented designer.

Designers Are Romancing The Pastel Tone For Spring/Summer!

Pastel is the colour of the season and is all over the runways from purple, pink, green, blue and coral.

Designers such as Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Christopher Raeburn, Hackett, Mr. Hare, Richard Nicoll and Rebecca Taylor took a modern take on the popular trend making it into sleek, sophisticated and elegant springtime wear that can be worn daily or to any occasion.

The look has transcended to the High Street too with New Look, River Island and Forever 21 incorporating the trend into their looks.

For women the trend is shown on oversized blazers and pencil skirts as well as tailored blouses and stylish cropped jackets, pastel shades are your stylish look this season.

For men this trend is centred around the smarter suited man combined with the casual summer colours combined with smart tailoring.
