It is that time of week again. Here is my five video suggestions this week:
Turntables is an amazing song and music video by Janelle Monáe. It really captures our times when we are mostly all doing our best to protest against racial inequality and against oppression. It is truly wonderful and thank you Janelle for this. It is incredible. 🙂
911 by Lady Gaga is a great tune to dance to and the music video is really creative.
I have recently been listening to a lot of Rina Sawayama’s music and it’s amazing. Here is her amazing track and equally amazing music video XS.
This performance by Matthew Richardson and another equally talented male dancer is so beautiful, romantic and well put together. Performed at The Arrow Live at the Carre Theater for the Circle of Live Event, we have stunning music from The Irrepressibles with Arrow.
In this wonderful video, the history of the amazing Statue of Liberty is told. A true queen of America. 🙂
It is the time of year to be uber jealous as the Forbes’ 30 under 30 list has been released and some of the people who made the list are not surprising such as Bruno Mars, One Direction (See it totally pays to go on The X Factor!) and Miley Cyrus in the music list. Forbes released their annual list of people under 30 in various categories including music.
Beautiful Mars, 28, was singled out by the magazine as its featured artist and said that he had earned his place for many reasons including his 18 Grammy nominations and his pending Super Bowl half-time performance.
Other stars who made the coveted list include Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Lorde, Avicii, Zedd and Calvin Harris.
And yet more famous young people who made the list include Janelle Monae, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa and J. Cole.
Lady Gaga struck by her record company, Interscope!
Lady Gaga has jumped to the defence of her record company after Billboard, an Examiner article laid into the company which represents Gaga, Interscope, alleging that it lost $US25 million ($28 million) due to not enough copies of the album ARTPOP been sold, leading to redundancies amongst staff. The article is not online anymore.
The article also suggested that her latest offering managed to sell just 258,000 copies in its first week, so much less than her hugely selling album Born This Way.
Gaga took to her website Little Monsters to write that there was “no truth to many of your comments, including the 25 million dollars deficit. These are rumors that are being repeated and spread. They are completely untrue. I have lost loved ones to the greed of money. It is not Interscope”.
She said that the blame lay with her management team. She spoke out about the “greed” of people around her, stating that she was “gravely mismanaged” while she had been ill with synovitis, which leads to joint inflammation.
“My heart breaks from the people I have trusted and loved who I’ve worked so closely with, who have used me, lied to me, worked me into the ground for the personal gain. When I woke up in the hospital after my surgery, there were many people that were not there. My health did not matter. I did not matter unless I could perform. This is a very hard lesson. Millions of dollars are not enough for some people. They want billions. Then they need trillions. I was not enough for some people. They wanted more.”, she stated.
Lady Gaga gets a piggybank from her handsome hunk Taylor Kinney!
I love Lady Gaga and her relationship with Taylor Kinney and it is always nice to hear a bit of celebrity romance news so I found it ever so cute when she recently spoke about finding love with the handsome actor and model. Speaking to Fashion magazine she revealed that her relationship with Kinney is real love. Aw!
Kinney, who starred as her lover in her video for the fabulous You and I, has been her boyfriend since 2011. The 27-year-old singer said of her love and connection with the Vampire Diaries and Chicago Fire actor, “It has been hard for me to find it but I have found love. When you meet someone that’s not intimidated by the amazing people that are around you [or] by the love that you receive – that’s love.”
She also spoke of her music saying, “I put all my pain into my work and as joyful as this album (ARTPOP) is, this joy and if you look at the album cover there’s an explosion of joy that is coming from a place of intense sadness that’s been in my heart since I was younger and this is why we understand each other because I was not born happy, naturally always joyful or believing in myself. I was born with a sad heart.”
She also revealed that she “didn’t feel alive unless I was on a stage”.
I am so happy that they have both found each other. It is hard to find that special someone and as a fan of both of them I’m happy that they found each other. So sweet!
