Jaymi Hensley Speaks About Been A Patron of Little Havens Children’s Hospice In Now Magazine

I recently read Union J’s Jaymi Hensley’s interview in Now Magazine where he talked about been a patron of Little Havens children’s hospice in Essex. It is very emotional reading about the struggles which young people and their families face and definitely makes you realise that the things we worry about on a daily basis are really not that overly important. Little Havens looks after babies, children and teenagers who haven’t long to live and strives to make sure they get to enjoy their short lives.

Speaking about how he became involved with the charity Jaymi said,

“In August, Now invited me and the rest of the band to help with their Greenfingers garden project. It was such an amazing day. The hospice is a fantastic place and the kids are incredible.”

Speaking about why he chose to become an ambassador Jaymi revealed about his own personal tragedy of losing his friend who he visited in a hospice when he was younger,

“I’ve visited hospices before and they always brought back bad memories of the times I visited my friend who passed away from a brain tumour when we were 14. They took great care of him there, but it wasn’t a nice place to be. I was actually really nervous before I first visited Little Havens. I got really upset. But as soon as I arrived it was completely different from what I’d expected. It’s a brilliant place. All my fears disappeared and I was inspired to become an ambassador.”

Speaking about the hospice he said,

“They’ve got something so special going on – it’s friendly and so vibrant. The children are all very poorly and I can’t imagine the stress their families must be going through, but the staff are incredible and there’s something about the place that makes everyone feel calm and forget about everything for a while.”

Speaking about the children and teenagers he met at the hospice Jaymi said,

“Ah, they were amazing – such cool characters, aged from one to 18. Annie’s hilarious. She’s a huge fan of Union J and we were doing karaoke and getting pictures taken together. Then there’s little Rosie who’s 15 months – she’s so cheeky and was enjoying winding everyone up.”

And speaking about their parents he said,

“The parents make me feel more emotional than the children do. It’s the families who get left behind and I can’t imagine that. I don’t have kids but I will one day and it’s awful, the loss for the parents.”

He said it has put a lot of things into perspective for him,

“They put everything into perspective – like, on my way here in the car I was stressing about moving house and what I was going to buy everyone for Christmas, but being with these kids and their families made me think: ‘What am I panicking about?’ They’ve made me wake up to what’s important and have had such a positive impact on my life. I have my family and I’m blessed.”

He said how he hopes to visit again before Christmas,

“I’m trying to arrange a day when we can go down and have a fun day and perform with them. It’s so cool – the kids don’t care that I’m in a band. I’m just this really happy, loud guy who comes in and has fun with them.”

Jaymi Hensley!

Here is the final part of my fanfic I Wish I Was You. Hope you enjoy! 🙂

Title: I Wish I Was You

Disclaimer: I don’t know Union J. What I’m writing is complete fiction.

Jaymi stayed the night with Olly sleeping on the sofa. Mid-way through the night Olly came out of the bedroom and approached him at the sofa.
“Josh, wake up.”
Jaymi hadn’t really been asleep. Just had his eyes closed over.
“What is it ba- Olly?”
“Just all these strange feelings I’m feeling lately.”
“Like what?”
“Like me and Jaymi. Me and you. I honestly don’t know where I’m at.”
“In what way?”, Jaymi asked sitting up and making room for Olly to sit next to him on the sofa.
“Just lately I feel closer to you. It isn’t that I want to undo everything that Jaymi and I have built up over the years. It’s just that I feel a connection with you. Like I did with him before. I never thought I could have a connection like that with anyone else the way I had it with him. I can’t deny how I’m feeling anymore though. It’s there.”
Jaymi silently wished in his mind that he and Josh had never made those stupid wishes that night. It was the usual story with life. You always wanted what you couldn’t have and took for granted the people in your life who actually completed your world. He just wanted his life back and he silently wished he could have it back. Have Olly back. It was clear to him that Olly loved him for what was inside him. For who he was. That’s clearly why the poor guy was so confused. He knew he shouldn’t kiss him and yet those lips. Those lips were drawing him in. Soft, tender, sensual. And so he kissed him feeling Olly’s resistance as he pulled away. But then he seen Olly’s eyes flash with surprise and he fainted.

Josh was sitting with JJ and George. He was keeping silent. It didn’t seem to be wise to speak about how he was feeling about his new body transformation. It was clear that the outcome of that would only be a lot of raised eyebrows. He wished things were back to normal. Both he and Jaymi were under immense strain trying to live each other’s lives. Suddenly George and JJ looked at him in shock.
“Josh …”, JJ began.
“What?”
He was so shocked that he had been called his own name for the first time in ages.
“You’ve just turned into Josh!”, George says.
“I’ve always been. Me and Jaymi turned into each other!”
“How?!”
“I don’t know George. I don’t know myself. We wished it in an argument and it just happened.”

“Olly, wake up!”, Jaymi said slapping him slightly on the side of the face to wake him.
In doing so he noticed that his hands were back to his own. No wonder Olly fainted, he thought and continued to try to wake him.
Gradually Olly came back to reality.
“J, what the hell? How is this happening?! How did you just turn into yourself like by magic or something? No, I’m sorry. It’s me. I’ve just had a vision that wasn’t there … It’s all this stress lately …”
Jaymi laughs.
“You didn’t have a vision babe. Josh and me turned into each other and now I’ve turned back …”
“No wonder Josh hit me …”
“No, he shouldn’t have done that! I am so angry with him …”
“J be fair. He freaked out. If I changed into one of his girlfriends and Josh was trying it on with me I think I’d knock him out too! You are friends. Forget it. I’m just glad it wasn’t you. And now I need a glass of …”
“Water? I could get you it.”
“I was thinking something stronger. A lot stronger!”
“I get you some alcohol.”, Jaymi replied and kissed him passionately before going to get Olly some much needed alcohol.

Josh was sitting playing Candy Crush the next day when Jaymi came in.
“Hey …”, Jaymi began.
“I shouldn’t have hit Olly. It was out of order man …”
“It was but it’s been a mad time. We need to put this behind us. Heck I’m getting married at the end of the year. You have a wedding to attend …”
“You still want me there?”
“We both do.”
They hug in a macho fashion.
“Come on Jay, we better catch this bus.”
They walk out to the tour bus where George and JJ are already on board waiting. As they step on to join them in the distance stands the old man they met on the night of their argument. He is smiling. His work here is done and now he is off to help more people value what and more importantly who they have in their life.

The End.

Attitude Magazine’s Attitude Love & Marriage issue On Sale Now!

Image

Attitude Magazine’s Attitude Love & Marriage issue is currently on shelves and features Union J star Jaymi Hensley and his fiancé Olly Marmon who have become the first same sex couple to feature in advertising for popular wedding tailor Moss Bros. The couple, who will marry at the end of the year, feature in pictures wearing looks from the brand’s spring collection.

The happy couple, who have been together for over four years are seen in a touching clinch smiling at each other.

Jaymi previously said,

‘I’m getting married in December. It’s going to be a big day… Management have been trying to say the next tour is in December so maybe we’ll get married during the interval.’

The advert is a big departure for men’s formal-wear firm Moss Bros which was founded in 1851 and the national campaign aims to celebrate the historic change in British law which will, from 29th March, let same sex couples marry in England and Wales.

Chief Executive Officer Brian Brick said,

“Moss Bros are proud to welcome all couples in store and help dress them for the most important day of their lives – as we have done for the last eight generations.”

In order to realise this, Moss Bros joined forces with the magazine Attitude, as the fashion sponsor for its special issue ‘Attitude Love & Marriage’.

It is the first wedding magazine in the UK exclusively targeting the gay market. The collection is exclusively featured in “Attitude Love & Marriage” and 70 Moss Bros store windows nationwide.

Attitude Managing Director Mike Buckley said:

“This is history in the making and we are truly humbled that a British high street institution such as Moss Bros have shown their commitment to equal marriage by supporting our Love & Marriage special issue and dressing their windows to mark the partnership.”

Also featured in the issue of Attitude is Sir Elton John and David Furnish who are planning their wedding after gay marriage was legalised.

The couple were one of the first couples to enter into a civil partnership in December 2005 and eight years on the singer and filmmaker who have been together for more than 20 years and they have two sons, Zachary, three, and one-year-old Elijah, are planning their wedding day.

David Furnish wrote in Attitude magazine’s Love & Marriage special:

“Elton and I will marry – as a high-profile couple, we feel it is our duty to do it, to make sure that everyone knows that this is something that many gay men living in this country never dreamed would happen. When it was announced that gay couples were able to obtain a civil partnership, Elton and I did so on the day it came into law. As something of a showman, [Elton] is aware that whatever he says and does, people will sit up and take notice -so what better way to celebrate that historic moment in time. Our big day made the news, it was all over the internet within minutes of happening and front page news the next day. Elton and I both think there is a massive difference between calling someone your ‘partner’ and calling them your ‘husband’. Partner’ is such an impersonal word and doesn’t adequately describe the love we have for each other. When Zachary and Elijah are grown up and having children of their own, they will – hopefully – be living in a world where everyone can be equal, when being married isn’t about whether you’re straight or gay, but simply about being human.”

Also featuring is John Whaite and his boyfriend Paul Atkins who are the cover stars. They are discussing their country wedding.

Also featuring is Corrie actor Charlie Condou and his fiancé Cameron Laux.

Attitude Love & Marriage is out now.

Union J’s Jaymi Hensley Speaks About How Meeting Fiancé Olly Marmon Stopped His Seven Week Dating Curse And Talks About Their Upcoming Wedding!

Jaymi has spoke about his relationship with Olly.

Jaymi has spoke about his relationship with Olly.

Union J’s Jaymi Hensley has revealed that meeting his fiancé Olly Marmon stopped his seven week dating curse after the pair met when they were both 18. He admits that he didn’t have the greatest luck with dating before they met saying to Guilty Pleasures at the London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard 40th anniversary gala at The Waldorf Hilton, London’s Palm Court, supported by Patron Tequila, “All my relationships ended after seven weeks before I met Olly. So it was like a seven week curse! But then I met the one and now it’s hundreds of weeks later. I think we were really lucky and we found each other. We understand each other and like the same things. Our personalities really match. We are really lucky to have found this relationship.”

Admitting that he is a bit of a perfectionist, he says he will be on alert on their wedding day to make sure no relatives show up wearing garishly coloured outfits.

‘I am a perfectionist and my worst thing is colour schemes. I’m really worried my aunt will turn up in lime green and my cousin will turn up in orange and everyone will look like a living sweet shop,’ he laughed.

‘There are certain colours I can’t let people wear! There’s nothing worse than you’ve got your wedding photo and everyone looks lush and then there’s someone in an awful coloured hat or dress.’

Union J Speak About New Album Revealing that It Is Going To Be More Acoustic!

Union J Are Set To Have A More Mature Country/Folk Sound For Their New Album!

Union J Are Set To Have A More Mature Country/Folk Sound For Their New Album!

Union J’s second album will be more acoustic than their first album, band member George Shelley has revealed.

We’ve been working on some new stuff and we’re really enjoying it, it’s very different. It’s a lot more acoustic. It’s more like folk and country music than before. We’re happy we’re getting to choose what we want to put out there as before we were kind of told what we were meant to be doing.”, Shelley said.

Bandmate Jaymi said he hopes that their fresh new music will display how much they’ve grown when it’s released.

“We’re a bit older now, you know? And it’s been a year since X Factor so we want to show that we’ve matured and I think that will come across in our new stuff.”

(I’m almost the same age and I haven’t really matured that much. It’s just scary when you hear another 1990’s person saying that! So immature, ain’t I? :-))

Jaymi also admitted that he thinks their new single might even be a contender for a Number One in Britain and added modestly,

“We’ve worked really hard on it and we’re really happy with it so hopefully people will like it too.”

Good luck lads! Hope it

Standing outside the tour bus George waited for Jaymi to arrive. He couldn’t wait to spend his first day both dating and working with Jaymi since they had signed their record contract. Jaymi soon arrived looking snazzy in Topman clothes and urban style runners.
“You look amazing.”, George smiled.
“So do you babe.”
“I’m just wearing a t-shirt and jeans.”
“Doesn’t matter. You always look amazing.”
They kiss gently.
“So this is the tour bus?”
“Yeah.”
“Can you believe it George?! An actual tour bus?!”, Jaymi said excitedly.
“Yeah. I seen something like that in our contract after all!”, George smiled.
Jaymi rolled his eyes and grinned.
“You know what I mean Smarty Pants!”
“Yeah. I love you Jaymi.”
“I love you too George.”
They kiss again. Josh and JJ come along.
“Oh you two get a room!”, Josh smiles and George and Jaymi smile and the four of them get on the tour bus.

The End.

I hope you all enjoyed it! 🙂
