My Tips On The Voice UK 2016!

So The Voice UK enters it’s knockouts stage this weekend with the singers whittled down to the last 32 vying for a spot in the live shows. In preparation I have complied my eight tips for Voice glory this season below:

Jordan Gray

I was so glad that Essex’s Jordan Gray returned for the battles after one of Paloma’s team sadly had to pull out because I loved her audition of Bob Dylan’s Just Like a Woman. Her battle with Theo Llewellyn singing This Woman’s Work was one of the best battles this series. Also I’m addicted to her song Hang With The Happiness. She is definitely my winner this season.

Rick Snowdon

Hartlepool’s Rick Snowdon wowed us all in his blind audition with a rock version of I Put a Spell on You. The gravelly rock tone of his voice is quite magical and in ballads has an ethereal type of quality. But in his battle with Bradley Waterman he showed us that his voice is a very versatile rock voice. He is my second favourite in this year’s show.

Deano Boroczky

Deano Boroczky’s stunning version of You Do Something To Me ensured his spot at the battle rounds where he took on Megan Reece in his battle singing I Try which ensured his spot at knockouts. He has a very unique vocal which sounds amazing.

Cody Frost

Cody Frost finished the first blind auditions of the new series on a high with her version of Lay All Your Love On Me before impressing once again in her battle with Heather Cameron-Hayes ensuring that she is currently joint favourite to win the show.

Harry Fisher

Harry Fisher has a wonderful soulful voice and impressed in his audition with Let It Go. Next he took on Charley Birkin in his battle when they sang I Can’t Stop Loving You which booked his place in the knockouts.

Vangelis Polydorou

Vangelis Polydorou’s rendition of Do You Really Want To Hurt Me was certainly a risk considering Boy George knew the song inside out but his beautiful arrangement of the song impressed the man himself and ensured his place on George’s team. He impressed once again in his battle with Melissa Cavanagh to book his place at the knockouts.

Alaric Green

Alaric’s beautiful vocal of Broken Vow ensured his place on team Ricky before his battle with Chloe Castro which was one of the best battles this year. When Ricky chose to keep Chloe, George stole Alaric booking his place in the knockouts.

Rachel Ann

Rachel Ann ensured her place at the battles following her version of In for the Kill in her audition before taking on Cork’s Aine Carroll in the battles singing This Is The Last Time which ensured her spot at the knockouts.

The Splash Final!

On Saturday I got to see the final of Splash! I hadn’t the channel to see the rest of the show so it was brilliant to get to see the final.

The four finalists our very own Keith Duffy, Richard Whitehead, Dan Osborne and Perri Kiely did an individual dive before doing a dive with show mentor Tom Daley. Perri really excelled at both and was a deserving winner. The lads from Diversity were there to cheer him on and celebrate when he won.

There was also a historic, fab moment when Whitehead and Daley did their dive together. It was the first time an Olympian and a Paralympian had dived together on TV.

Patriotic Keith wore diving trunks with the Irish flag on them while Dan donned some sparkley ones and looked sexy as always. When he and Daley, who wore a sexy black pair, did their dive together I thought I was in heaven! Now that is good Saturday night television! Two fit guys with barely anything on! Thank you very much ITV! Happy days! 🙂

There was also a fantastic performance of Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend by the professional divers including Tom who ended the performance by doing a split into the pool.

It was a great final and well done Perri! Well deserved! 🙂

Kian Egan appeared on The Late Late Show this week!

I watched current king of the jungle Westlife star Kian Egan talking on The Late Late Show on RTE over here in Ireland this week.

Egan, from Sligo, spoke about his time in the jungle saying that his biggest challenges while participating in the ITV show were missing loved ones, the lack of food and been cut off from society. He spoke about how he prayed to his deceased father Kevin every night while he was in the jungle.

His mother Patricia, his brother and his sisters were in the audience and his mum spoke. She spoke about how she wasn’t worried about Kian going into the jungle because she knew he was an adventurer but that she was worried that he wouldn’t take care of his skin and get sunburn. Kian also revealed that his mum sent him a sent saying how his father would have been proud of him the jungle and that he reminded her of his dad.

The moment when he seen Jodi in the jungle was played and Kian revealed how he knew when he seen Jodi there that everything outside with his son Koa and all his loved ones was Ok and settled. He spoke about how listening to fellow campmates Alfonso Ribeiro and Vincent Simone talk about recently having babies made him broody to want to have another child with Jodi.

Egan also spoke about the differences in the fame he had in Westlife and the fame he had since leaving I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here’s jungle. He revealed that when he was in Westlife he would get people saying that they liked his music but now he would get people saying that they thought he was a really nice person.

He spoke about fellow campmate Joey Essex and how he advised Joey to save more money whilst in the jungle. He spoke about how Joey had a Gucci pair of shorts for a sum of 350 while his shorts which looked identical were a sum of 50. And then we seen Kian’s jackets throughout the years, some of which were expensive but Kian was quick to point out he didn’t choose them all, and an inexpensive jacket which he wore in Grease when he was in secondary school.

He joked presenter Ryan Tubrity when asked what he hoped for next, “to stand up and he’d show him.” joking that he wanted his job.

Catch Kian on The Voice of Ireland on RTE every Sunday!
