Friday Fictioneers: The Small Details

The Small Details

Valentine’s Day 2019 …

Zak took a break from his home-based art studio to set up a romantic meal for his new husband Brad. He put the finishing touches on the roses. It was all about the small details …

Brad’s key turned in the lock. Zak smiled to him warmly. It was all about the small details. He gave Brad a kiss …

Truth was Zak was as straight as a dye. A rich man can do wonders for an artist. One touch of that deadly glitter and he would be free to join his girlfriend Nat before midnight.

A good twist, Lisa. However, I fear Zak has forgotten to attend to the small detail of the police investigation of a suspicious death…

That’s why I would never marry a man. Oh, wait… That’s not why.

Well played. Zak showed some real dedication to the scheme. Brad must have serious money if Zak married him to get to it.

  15. Well told and chilling – liked the refrain..’all about the small details’, it had a slightly sinister feel. Clever ending. Nicely done.

  16. subroto says:

Aie yie yie! Now that was a twist. Deliciously evil, nicely done.

  17. I hope Zak and his girlfriend get caught! Great set up and amazing twist.

  18. StuHN says:

Natalie better watch out if someone else catches Zak’s eye. Never heard “straight as dye” before.
