Poem: Missed Opportunities

Suzy looked at Mark across the cafe,

He was larger than life,

Phonecalls buzzing through on his mobile,

Easy smile on his face,

She wanted to approach him,

Try to make a connection,

But she was an introvert

And while she sat second-guessing,

He got up and left,

Going off into the distance.

Mark glanced back into the cafe at Suzy from across the road,

She had a quiet sophistication,

A cute awkward smile,

A mobile phone that rang occasionally,

He had wanted to approach her,

Try to make a connection,

But he was an extrovert,

Life was too busy to make the time,

So he looked back once more

As her image became further and further in the distance.
